30 Test (サーティテスト, Sātei Tesuto?) is an elemecha released in 1970 by Namco. It received a remake in 1997.
Gameplay[]
1970 Original[]
The original 1970 cabinet had thirty buttons, each marked with a number from 1 to 30. The objective of the game is to press all the buttons in numerical order before time runs out. The game ends when either the time limit expires or the player successfully hits all thirty buttons. After the game, the player is graded based on how many buttons they were able to press.
1997 Remake[]
Although it retains the core premise of the original, the 1997 remake of 30 Test dramatically alters how the game is played.
There are now multiple rounds of gameplay, each with its own time limit. In each round, the player must press a specific amount of buttons. This amount increases with each successive round, building up to a board that uses all thirty buttons. The amount of buttons that must be pressed in each round is shown in the table below:
Round | Number of Buttons |
---|---|
In addition, there are now multiple patterns for numbering the buttons; the specific patterns that are used depend on how many times that the machine has been player after it is turned on[1]. This is intended to deter players from memorizing a particular order in which to press the buttons. The game will end if the player makes three mistakes or if the time limit expires.
Like the original, the remake grades the player for their performance based on how many buttons they pressed. All the grades the player can receive are shown in the table below:
Buttons Pressed | Grade | Meaning |
---|---|---|
超OKっすよ!! | Hey, You're Totally OK!! | |
かなりィ⤴っすヨ | That's Pretty Good ⤴ | |
あっ い~じゃん | Hey, Come On | |
ふつう | Average | |
ちょいたり | Good Enough | |
サイテ〜 | You Suck |
