Arcade Archives (アーケードアーカイブス Ākēdo Ākaibusu?) is a series of arcade game ports for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch developed by Hamster. Several Namco arcade games have been rereleased through Arcade Archives.
Features[]
Game Modes[]
Arcade Archives releases contain three game modes, all of which are accessible from the title screen.
Original Mode[]
Original Mode is the port itself. It recreates the original game as faithfully as possible. If a game underwent one or more revisions following release (such as with Galaga), each version gets its own Original Mode.
Hi Score Mode[]
In Hi Score Mode, players attempt to score as many points as possible on a one-credit run of the game. Players cannot continue after getting a game over or create save states.
Caravan Mode[]
In Caravan Mode, players attempt to score as many points as possible within a five-minute time limit. For certain games, Caravan Mode takes place under certain conditions (such as starting on a specific level or using a certain version). As with Hi Score Mode, the player is not allowed to save their game.
Options[]
The Options menu allows player to customize the game to their liking. Although the menu is accessible only in Original Mode, certain settings carry over to Hi Score Mode and Caravan Mode. The settings within the menu are categorized as follows:
- Create Interrupt Save Data: Allows the player to create a save point. When they reopen Original Mode, the game will start at the point where they saved.
- Display Settings: Allows players to change the size, orientation, and position of the game window. They may also apply a screen filter or disable the game's automatic wallpaper.
- Game Settings: Allows players to customize settings pertaining to the game itself, such as the number of lives they start with, the ability to continue, and whether sound plays during the attract mode. Included within Game Settings are Preference Settings, which allows players to enable or disable miscellaneous quirks about the the game, and Audio Settings, which allows players to change the quality of the game's audio.
- Button Settings: Allows players to customize the game's controls.
- Manual: Contains a digital manual that explains how to play the game. Differences between individual versions of the game are also explained here.
- Online rankings: Allows players to view the online score ranking table for the game.
- Restore all settings to default: Resets all settings.
- Game Reset: Resets the game.
- Back to title screen: Closes the game and returns the player to the title screen.
- Return to game: Returns the player to their game.

Trivia[]
- Galaxian (1979) is the oldest Namco arcade game to be rereleased through Arcade Archives, and Tinkle Pit (1993) is the newest.
- As of January 2025, Galaxian is the oldest arcade game available through Arcade Archives.
- The inclusion of Caravan Mode is an homage to Hudson Soft, a company that included a similar time attack mode in many of their games. The name "Caravan Mode" comes from the Hudson All-Japan Caravan Festival, an annual event where Hudson Soft would show off their latest releases and hold competitions.[1]
