The Camera Toting Tourist is a character from the 2000 racing game, Smashing Drive. He is one of the passengers that the taxi cab picks up and takes to their destinations.
The cab picks him up in the levels, Early Bird, Rush Hour and Dusk and Wired.
Biography[]
The taxi cab first picks up the camera toting tourist at the beginning of the first level, Early Bird. When the cab picks him up, the cab must take him to Brooklyn. When giving the tourist his wild ride, the cab takes a shortcut through the JFK National Airport, and another shortcut through a big sewer pipe, or through a construction yard.
The cab picks up the tourist again in the middle of the second level, Rush Hour. When picking him up again, the cab must this time take him to the Radio City Music Hall. When giving the tourist his second wild ride, the cab could jump over a rap and use its cutter power up to slice through a train crossing a bridge. It also could take shortcut through an industrial pipe, and through a sewer system as well as the Rockefeller Center Ice Rink, where it can bounce off the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree to collect a line of power ups, and through a building that will lead it to the tourist's second destination.
The cab picks up the tourist for the third time in the fourth and final level, Duck and Wired. When picking him up for the third time, the cab must this time take him to the Statue of Liberty. When giving the tourist his third wild ride, the cab could take a shortcut through a burning building while fire trucks are putting the fire out, and could also jump over a ramp onto roofs of buildings. It could also take another shortcut through the mall it went through back on the Early Bird Level. The cab collects its 4x4 power up to use as flotations to cross the water to get to the Statue of Liberty. When getting to the tourist's third destination, the cab climbs the Statue of Liberty and drops the tourist off.
If the cab makes it to any of the tourist's first two destinations, the tourist states he must get what he's seeing on camera, in determine to film it. If the cab runs out of time, or fails to beat the CPU cab it races against to the end of the route, the tourist comes out of the cab feeling dizzy with his face green and he falls to the ground. If the cab makes it to any of the tourist's first two destinations and gets a record lap, the tourist comes out of the cab declaring no one's going to believe him about the wild taxi ride he just had.
