The Game Boy

The Game Boy is a handheld console developed by Nintendo. It was released in Japan in 1989 and worldwide in 1990. The Game Boy ended up becoming one of the most successful handhelds of all time. As a result, Nintendo created several variants and successors to the Game Boy, including the Game Boy Pocket, a smaller version of the Game Boy, and the Japan-exclusive Game Boy Light, which included a built-in backlight.

In 1994, Nintendo released a peripheral called the Super Game Boy, allowing users to play Game Boy games on the SNES. A successor model, the Super Game Boy 2, was released exclusively in Japan four years later.
