Namco Sound Player (ナムコサウンドプレーヤー Namuko Saundo Purēyā?) was an app capable of playing music and sound effects from various Namco arcade games. It was developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by Namco Sounds[1] in celebration of Xevious' 30th anniversary.[2] The app was an iOS exclusive, initially releasing in Japan as Namco Sound Player + Xevious on February 21, 2013; it would later release internationally on March 27, 2013. It was priced at ¥85 or $0.99.[1][2]
The app was delisted on March 30, 2015.[2]
Description[]

A screenshot of the Xevious sound board in Namco Sound Player
The app offered music and sound effects through a digital sound board. The board was split into two sections. The left side of the board, the one with the larger buttons, was used for sound effects while the right side of the board, the one with the smaller buttons, was used for background music. The right side also had a smaller banner to indicate what game the tracks came from.
The sound effect and music track buttons worked differently from each other. Tapping a button on the right side of the screen would cause the app to play a piece of music. The track was played automatically and would not stop until the player tapped the button again or tapped a different buttons. Sound effects were also activated by tapping a button, this time on the left side of the screen, but they did not play automatically. To play the sound effect multiple times, the user would have to repeatedly tap its respective button. This setup allowed for music and sound effects to be played simultaneously, which let users replicate how a particular game would sound like.
In-App Purchases[]
Although the game came with multiple sound boards, only the one for Xevious was available for free. The rest had to be purchased within the app. Sound boards were sold for ¥85 or $0.99,[1][2] the same price as the base app.
At launch, sound boards for the following games were offered:
Sound boards for several other games were added to the app through updates, including:
