Kagekiyo in Namco × Capcom

Taira no Kagekiyo (平 景清?) is the protagonist from the games Genpei Tōma Den and its sequel Samurai-Ghost. Kagekiyo is a samurai from the Taira clan that died in the Battle of Dan-no-ura, the last battle of the Genpei War, which resulted in his clan being destroyed by the Minamoto clan. To avenge his clan, Kagekiyo revived and must find three sacred treasures to defeat his nemesis, Minamoto no Yoritomo.

Other appearances

Kagekiyo appears as a playable character in the games Namco Super Wars and Namco × Capcom. In the later, he is partnered with Tarosuke and goes after the three sacred treasures to defeat the revived members from the Minamoto clan. He appears as a non-playable character in Namco High.

Trivia

  • The ninja Yoshimitsu from the Tekken and Soul series has many similarities with Kagekiyo, possibly being based on him. Also, one of Yoshimitsu's weapons in the Soul series is named Kagekiyo.
  • It is possible to create Taira No Kagekiyo in Soul Calibur III.
  • Yoshimitsu can also be customized to look exactly like Kagekiyo in Tekken 6.
  • Kagekiyo has a cameo appearance in episode 8 of the anime Yumeria, being one of the thoughts of the characters on how aliens look like.
