The Gangsters are two characters from the 2000 racing game, Smashing Drive. They're two of the passengers that the taxi cab picks up and takes to their destinations.

The cab picks them up at the beginning of the second level, Rush Hour, and at the end of the third level, Night Owl.

Biography[]

The cab first picks up the gangsters at the beginning of the second level, Rush Hour. When it picks them up, it must take them to Brooklyn Navy Yard. When giving the gangsters their wild ride, the cab can take a shortcut through a grocery store and through a construction yard while construction vehicles were at work. It can also jump off a broken side of a bridge that was caused by a crash truck and land onto a barge.

The cab picks up the gangsters again at the end of the third level, Night Owl. When it picks them up again, it must this time take them to Times Square. When giving the gangsters their second wild ride, the cab drives around central park. It races a giant ape (a nod to King Kong) to the Empire State Building and using its turbo and crash power ups, the cab can bash the giant ape off the building as he climbs it, and the cab then enters the top o the building and goes down an elevator shaft. The cab could also take a shortcut through a movie theater, driving through the theater screen. If the cab knocks the giant ape off the Empire State Building during its run, after dropping the gangsters off, the giant ape will then fall and land in the middle of Times Square, right on top of the gangsters.

If the cab makes it to one of the gangsters' two destinations, the gangsters will then get out of the cab as one of them says they should get out of here. If the cab runs out of time, or fails to beat the CPU cab it races against to the end of the route, the gangsters get out of the cab, being angry at the cab driver as one of them kicks the cab. If the cab makes it to one of the gangsters' two destinations and gets a record lap, the gangsters get out of the cab with one of them laughing and they tell the cab driver he's kinda cool.
